Babel

Why do I always end up here at this time? I really need to get some sleep.

I watched Babel earlier and I don't think I've ever been more uncomfortable while watching a movie.  Don't get me wrong, I mean it in a good way.  There was constant suspense, every situation, almost every scene could have ended badly.  He uses cut scenes, visuals, and even slience at just the right moments.  The juxtaposition not only in location, and scenery, but in sound, ambient noise.  The movie kept me on edge.  It touches on dysfunction, it's political, depressing, and it didn't feel at all like it was two and a half hours long.  Japan, Morocco, California, Mexico, the film went to many places and showed examples of how people and locations can be very similar and intertwined, and at the same time very different.  I definitely want to watch it again, some points are pretty obvious, but others aren't.  Lack of communication seems to be a theme, some parts or events seem to be results of bad decisions.  Anyway, it's definitely worth watching, Iñárritu is slowly becoming one of, if not my favorite, directors.

Today was a long day, Mora finally got out of the shop, I had my brother pick her up.  I guess the rear end is messed up as well, she's still grinding in the back, but not as bad and the brakes feel great now.  I still haven't come up with a name for the Nitro, that first day Becky came to mind for some reason.  I don't know, I was considering Darkness, Rebecca, and a few others.  Shut up, I know it's lame.  Heh.  Hmm...

I love going to the movies, it's pretty much the only time my brain shuts down.  I let go and I'm immersed in what's happening on the screen.  It inspires me to write, it takes me away, it allows me to reflect, they really do a lot for me.  Especially the good ones.  For a few moments here and there, this one really had me thinking.

I've got to get my shit together.  I know I say that a lot, believe me, I think it even more.  I'm doing well in some aspects, but there are a few loose strings I've got to tie up.  I'm rambling...

Work dragged, those flex schedules suck.  At least tomorrow's Wednesday, we'll probably hit Mullen's, I know I owe D at least a few rounds, heh.  I can't believe Thanksgiving's coming up, it's all a blur after that, the years come and go so fast.  PS3 on Friday, Wii on Sunday, I'm still not sure what I'm going to do about those.

Alright, guess I should hit the sack, tomorrow's another day.

que sueñes con los angelitos,

Gil

I think I'd pay money to watch you flailing in the air, playing Wii.

Re: i
It was between The Departed and Babel last night, the start time was the tie-breaker, I'm definitely looking forward to it. I've also heard good things about Hard Candy.
