Writer's Block: What Was I Thinking?

Finish the sentence: "What in the world was I thinking when I...?"

...signed up for NaNoWriMo again?

I do it every year and I always fail. How's that saying go? The one about always doing the same things but expecting different results and how that's the definition of insanity. I always have legitimate reasons, family problems, work stuff, etc. However this year was particularily insane. Looking for a job, moving back and forth, having not one, not two, but three separate Thanksgiving dinners in three separate towns. I still have to do a bunch of other things and not only is my one year anniversary coming up this weekend, so is my dad's birthday. So I still have some shopping and/or planning to do. Not to mention the fact that I'm broke, so there's that as well.

But the thing is...

I'm only about 17K away from the finish line. It's totally doable. Hell I'd be closer if I could actually silence my inner editor but he just can't deal with those stupid red and green squiggly lines. I don't have to work, I have the place to myself, I can shut off the Internet and my phone and I can go for it.

I've sacrificed going out, playing video games, watching movies, watching tv, working out (not really too much of a sacrifice there) and tons of vegging out. I'm stayed up late, given myself carpo-tunnel, and driven myself crazy but it's starting to seem like it's worth it.

I'm going to keep at it.

You're welcome. But don't hold me to it. I was given the advice by an editor and it works for me. I used to write 500 word peices then edit and edit to perfection until I'd lost half the text and had to rethink the direction I was heading in. Once again Good Lucj.
