Anyway, enough with the vague references. It's raining, and it's been raining all morning. I was trying to use it as an excuse not to go to the park this morning, I actually tried going back to bed but it didn't work. So I walked and jogged through the empty park in the rain. It was dark but it was kind of nice. I've always been a fan of the rain, so it's not much of a deterrent.
I haven't really written much about my mornings in the park right? The things you see, I should bring along my camera one of these days. Homeless people, litter, flute playing weirdos, stray dogs, old Tai-Chi practicing people, golfers, etc. It's never a dull moment. I can't wait until I start running on the lake, heh. Sometimes it's depressing, sometimes it's aggravating but it always gives me something to think about.
Anyway, I'm always jogging with my trusty I-Pod, Apollo. Yes I named it, sue me, my computer's name is Oracle, my car Maureen. Hey why else would it let you change the computer's name or the I-Pod's? Don't give me that crap about naming it Living Room or Study or whatever, that's weaksauce.
ANYWAY! Where was I? So I'm always listening to something, whether it be audiobooks or music. This morning as I'm finishing up, "Sheep Go To Heaven" by Cake comes on. There's a line about "As soon as you're born you start dying so you might as well have a good time." I think I've quoted it here before, well it made me think for a second. Not to mention listening to Robert Fulghum saying how you need to budget "joy" into your life along with everything else.
So I started jumping into the puddles on the way home.
Like a big dumb kid, I splished and I splashed my arse home. My feet were soaked, but I have to admit I was smiling. Don't get me wrong, I have fun everyday, probably more than I should. I just can't get through my days being bored you know? However, that was something I never do, something you were forbidden to do as a kid, so it was a different kind of fun. Luckily no one was crazy enough to be out in the rain or else "I would have looked like quite the fool, an april fool as it were." Umm yeah, sorry paraphrasing Homer again.
Fawk I though this was going to be a quick update, go figure. In conclusion, your assignment for today is to do something fun, something out of your everyday routine, maybe something silly and report back to me what it was.
I mean, if you're not too busy, or too mature or whatever :p.
